Job description

As part of the Strategy and Planning team the Solution Architect will primarily be responsible for the design of solutions that support Wimbledon’s business goals and strategy as well as supporting our evolving Digital and Data Transformation programme. You will work in partnership with colleagues from across different departments to understand the business context for technology and data changes and then develop those concepts into actionable designs.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise across diverse technologies, especially in solution architecture, data, cloud, and digital architecture, while also being able to translate complex business requirements into the best and most appropriate solutions for Wimbledon.

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for solution architecture and design, developing comprehensive technical design deliverables for projects to meet their functional requirements and the desired service levels. Solutions may be based on bespoke software and/or commercial off-the shelf packages, delivered in a hybrid environment across AELTC’s computing infrastructure and 3rd party cloud services.
  • Responsible for the design of a broad range of data-centric solutions to fulfil the AELTC’s data strategy, from data governance through to data visualisation.
  • Managing the design integrity of your solutions throughout their development lifecycle, acting as the design authority for your solutions, gaining a full understanding of the business context for your solutions and documenting and agreeing key architectural decisions and managing trade-offs.
  • Assisting your project management colleagues to define and track assigned projects, primarily work breakdown definition and estimation, but also stakeholder management, supplier management and progress tracking.
  • Ensuring your solutions align to the AELTC technology strategy and conform to our technology standards, including definition and revision of those standards when applicable.
  • Providing technical guidance to others, including users, analysts, developers, testers and project managers to ensure solutions can be realised and implemented successfully.
  • Acting as a technology business partner, by gaining a deep understanding of the AELTC system and data landscape as well as keeping up to date with new technologies and best practice, advising on the beneficial application of these for AELTC.
  • Contributing to the technology strategy and enterprise architecture that delivers the AELTC business strategy, keeping it technologically ahead to provide excellent service to our users and customers.
  • Continuing to develop your skills, through on-the-job experience and personal development, attending suitable courses and seminars if appropriate.
  • Performing additional duties as agreed with your line manager.

What part your role will play in The Championships

  • Providing support for setup, operation and de-rig of systems for The Championships in agreed areas.
  • Ensuring tasks are completed to time and communicated well to others and resolving incidents in a timely manner appropriate to Championships service levels.
  • Conducting reviews with business teams to ensure requirements for enhancements are validated when Championships staff are available.

About you

  • Deep knowledge of how data is modelled, engineered, managed, shared, stored, and created by different systems across hybrid cloud environments, underpinned by systems engineering methods.
  • Experience creating data visualisation/business insight solutions, with strong knowledge of how these can be used to enable business decision-making.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with Microsoft application and data technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server and Azure services.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing data governance and management processes, including compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven problem determination skills.
