Job description

The Operations Team is looking for an Event Manager to support with the delivery of the Guest Services programme at the 2026 Championships reporting to the Venue Operations Management Team. The role will support the delivery of the Guest Services Programme, which includes Guest arrivals and departures at the Gates, The Queue operation, Information Points, Guest movement around the Grounds, as well as many more key services in place which are delivered to highest standard and create an unforgettable Wimbledon experience for all. Each Event Manager is designated an area of the Grounds or Wimbledon Park to manage and will report and within a management structure as part of the Venue Operations department.

What you will be doing

  • Support with the delivery of the Guest Service programme at The Championships 2026 reporting to the Venue Operations Management Team.   
  • Management of Guest Services Team Leaders within assigned area, each of whom will have a team of Guest Services Hosts. Each team will deliver the front-line Guest Experience, such as welcoming and wayfinding, ticket scanning and Information Points.
  • Oversee the management of Guest Services Host welfare for relevant teams including staff rotas, breaks, days off, attendance and any other ad-hoc requests via the Team Leaders.
  • Have full oversight and understanding of the wider Venue Operations Delivery plan within assigned area to lead the Guest Services Team Leaders and Hosts as best as possible.
  • Lead on all Guest inquiries and complaints escalated by Guest Services Team Leaders and Hosts or as requested by the Venue Operations Management Team.
  • Ensure the delivery of each Guest Service Operation within dedicated area of the Grounds is delivered to the highest standard and in line with the Wimbledon Values (Heritage, Integrity, Respect and Excellence).
  • Work alongside and under the direction of Security and Safety to manage Guest movement around the Grounds, deploying the Guest Services Team to support plans as require
  • Lead on radio communcations for area responsible for from a Guest Services perspective, linked to Operations Centre.
  • Take direction from the Operations Centre and relay relevant instructions to the wider Guest Services team in designated area.
  • Attend key briefings and meetings representing Guest Services both pre and during The Championships.
  • Lead on areas of the training of all Guest Services Team to ensure the team are well trained, prepared and motivated at The Championships.

Days and hours of work

  • There will be a requirement to attend  between 3 to 5 days pre-Championships for onsite briefings and training. The exact days to be agreed once team are contracted.
  • During The Championships (29 June to 12 July) there will be a requirement for the Guest Services Event Management Team to be on site from 7.30am until last play. A rota will be in place to ensure sufficient breaks and days off are covered.  
  • A contract will be in place to reflect days, hours, and rates.

About you

  • Significant experience and proven track record of onsite event management at major sporting or other events, providing excellent service to both internal stakeholders and external guests.
  • Takes a consultative approach to decision making and listens to others’ views and ideas but is not afraid to take a decision and lead from the front with integrity.
  • Experience of managing a team within a live delivery event environment.
  • Excellent service delivery and customer service skills.
  • Excellent engagement, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, and pro-active approach.
  • Able to work closely and collaboratively with others.   
  • Good understanding of Security principles and procedures and confident with delivering these under the guidance of the Security Team.
  • Confident on radio comms and being part of a strong communications structure.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety principles and procedures and confident with delivering these under the guidance of the Safety Team.
  • Motivated, inquisitive, and confident, you will need to have the ability to ask questions and make independent decisions and handle sensitive information discretely.
