Job description

Based at the prestigious All England Lawn Tennis Club, the Building Services Technician – Plumber, plays a key role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and efficiency of all plumbing systems across the site. This includes the maintenance, repair, and installation of water supply, drainage, heating, and sanitation systems within a world-class sporting venue. The technician supports both day-to-day operations and major events, such as The Championships, by delivering high-quality, compliant plumbing services that uphold the club’s standards of excellence and contribute to a seamless experience for staff, players, and guests.

What you will be doing

  • Support the MEP Maintenance Manager and Lead Plumber to ensure full compliance of all operating systems, identifying risks and supporting solutions to create documented procedures.
  • Support the MEP Maintenance Manager and Lead Plumber in the management of the specialist suppliers in the year-round maintenance of the AELTC.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plumbing services throughout the AELTC Estate ensuring the CAFM system is used to accurately capture all maintenance information.
  • Support the high performing culture of the team by producing accurate maintenance information for planned and reactive tasks so operational reports can be produced.
  • Support the Helpdesk team with technical advice and feedback on tasks issued to ensure all procedures are accurate and relevant for the asset identified.
  • Ensure excellent service delivery across the estate by displaying the organisations values of Heritage, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
  • Provide timely support and guidance to the EM team working collaboratively with other disciplines.
  • Work in collaboration with the Estate Development team on validations and commissioning of various projects, being undertaken by the Estate team.
  • Engage with other departments offering best practice support and advice.
  • Participate on the on-call rota, providing out of hours support for critical emergencies.
  • Support the Building and Services team with function cover for AELTC events on a rota basis.
  • Any other duties within the scope of the post as directed by the MEP Maintenance Manager or the Lead Plumber.
  • Participate in key technical training to align with AELTC Health and safety rules including the possibility of Gas Safe training.

What part your role will play in The Championships

  • Assist in the preparation and installation of the temporary structures for the Championships and ensure all associated services are provided to support these structures.
  • Carry out routine daily activities and checks of all areas ensuring these areas are compliant and to a first-class standard.
  • Work with other teams and departments to identify, support, and implement any requirements that may be needed throughout the Championships.
  • Work closely with the EM team and key stakeholders to deliver a successful Championships.
  • Support the MEP Maintenance Manager and Lead Plumber in the management of specialist suppliers.

About you

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating qualified
  • City & Guilds Plumbing Certification
  • CSCS Card or equivalent skilled card
  • Water Regulations Certificate (WRAS) (Desired)
  • Health & Safety Training – e.g., Manual Handling, Working at Height, Asbestos Awareness (Desired)
  • Basic IT skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Demonstratable best practice experience of maintaining building systems within an Estate Management department or through an FM service provider within a complex organisation
  • Ability to follow complex instructions working independently or within a team to identify technical issues and provide timely solutions.
  • Fully conversant with Building regulations and the requirements of Plumbing systems for buildings
  • Conversant with the use of technical equipment in identifying faults to provide solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work successfully across a broad spectrum of stakeholders including consultants, contractors, members, guests and staff

  • Experience in working with CAFM systems and BMS systems desirable but not essential
