Job description
During The Championships, the Wimbledon Shop operates three major outlets and seven express outlets across the site. Year-round, the Museum Shop is open seven days a week and offers entrance to the Museum itself, as well as tours of the grounds. The Museum Shop stocks a wide range of apparel, accessories, homewares and towelling products, as well as food gifting and more. As part of the Retail team supporting one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, the Stock Operative will play a key role in maintaining accurate stock records, supporting stock movements, and ensuring the efficient operation of back-of-house logistics. This role is essential in supporting the growing inventory demands of the year-round retail business, The Championships, and the Hospitality Gifting programme.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Year-Round Duties
- Assist in receipting deliveries into the Museum Shop and processing them through the AELTC stock management system.
- Support stock movements between the offsite warehouse and AELTC back-of-house areas.
- Prepare and participate in stocktakes, ensuring accurate counts and minimising shrinkage.
- Maintain organised and safe back-of-house storage areas, ensuring stock is accessible and well-labelled.
- Assist in replenishment of stock for the year-round retail business and online fulfilment centre.
- Support outbound order preparation and dispatch.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements and deliveries.
- Support the picking, packing, and stock management of merchandise allocated to the Hospitality Gifting programme, ensuring accurate fulfilment of bulk orders placed by Official Partners.
Championships Duties (March–August Focus)
- Lead a team of temporary stock managers during the summer months, providing clear direction and ensuring efficient execution of stock-related tasks.
- Oversee stock operations at satellite retail outlets in Wimbledon Park and at the qualifying event in Roehampton, ensuring timely replenishment and accurate stock control.
- Assist with the receipt and reconciliation of bulk deliveries against packing notes.
- Support replenishment of merchandise between stockrooms and shop floors.
- Participate in the set-up and de-rig of retail outlets, ensuring efficient stock placement and organisation.
- Work as part of a larger team to amalgamate stock post-event and prepare for stocktake.
- Attend daily briefings and follow instructions from the Stock & Logistics Manager and fixed-term stock managers.
- Follow merchandising plans and operational checklists to ensure consistency across outlets.
Other Information
- The role will be Championships focused from March to August
- Standard working hours will be 9.00 to 17.00
- Occasional weekend work will be required
- Availability on every day of The Championships is a condition of employment at The Wimbledon Shop. Longer hours area required during the Championships.

Person Specification
Essential
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items.
- Full clean driving licence; confident driving a van.
- Basic IT skills (MS Word and Excel).
- Experience in a retail or warehouse environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to lead small teams effectively.
Desirable
- Experience working in event retail or sports environments.
- Forklift licence.
- First aid trained.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
