Job description

This casual role will help deliver Wimbledon’s Learning and Family Programme vision by leading interactive tours and workshop sessions for groups and guests of all ages and abilities.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Deliver exciting and engaging experiences to a range of audiences across formal and informal settings including families, young children, school groups from primary/secondary/university, later life learners and community groups.
  • Lead and deliver workshops, tours and assemblies to school groups up to 40 people from a diverse range of age groups and abilities, including SEND individuals. There are 6 workshops on offer, plus 2 community variations, with the potential for more to be added to the offer.
  • Assist with Community events geared towards Children and Families.
  • Proactively ensure excellent guest experience by working with the Learning and Family team and collaborating across the wider organisation to deliver exceptional service for all public visitors.
  • This role will require you to set up and pack away after workshops and carry out basic checks and tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of the visit. This may involve lifting furniture and walking the site pre-opening to ensure safe tour route for the day.
  • Supervise groups within the Grounds in line with the AELTC Safeguarding procedures.
  • Learn and champion the history and stories of The Championships, keeping up to date with new developments and changes to the tournament and the Grounds.
  • Contribute to the development of the programmes offer both Year-round and at the Championships through regular feedback and input.
  • This role will do both on and off site delivery.

What part your role will play in The Championships

  • Support the suite of activities during Qualifying & Championships including: on- and offsite Schools events, as well as those designed to welcome families.
  • Assist with the delivery of Championship tours, liaising with Retail, Guest Services Team, Security and all other relevant groups to ensure ‘outstanding’ guest experience and appropriate levels of health and safety for all.

Other Information

  • The role will require a full DBS clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the All England Club.
  • While most sessions are delivered onsite, there is a growing schedule of events which require an offsite presence.
  • Following the delivery of sessions, your role will include making sure the Learning Space is ready, supplies are audited, preparing learning materials, receiving training on new offerings, conduct additional research.
  • This is a casual role and shifts may require weekend work and late start/late finish days depending on the event.
  • There is the potential for working offsite which may require an overnight stay.

About you

Essential:

  • Experience of performing, acting, teaching, scripted storytelling, or related activities to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Demonstrable experience of leading engaging learning sessions for a variety of audiences and ages within a museum, gallery, visitor attraction or educational setting.
  • The ability to convey information to large groups in a fun, creative and informed manner and be open to learning from evaluation.
  • Strong organisational and timekeeping skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to work both as part of a team and to take initiative and make decisions independently.
  • Proven ability to undertake own research and to personalise delivery and content.
  • A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be made of all successful candidates. This will be carried out on your behalf by the AELTC and a fully clear disclosure is the minimum requirement for employment.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for sport and its heritage or a willingness to undertake considerable research on the subject.

Desirable:

  • Experience of guiding groups across a large working site.
  • Experience of working with people across a broad spectrum of learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • An understanding of tennis and the rules of the sport.
