Job description

We're looking for a Fitness and Club Operations Manager, reporting to the Club Manager, year-round this role will support consistent service and delivery touch points for Members and guests, including end-to-end management of the Gym and recovery areas and Dressing Rooms.

 

During The Championships the role will lead on the Championships recruitment and end-to-end management for the Gym and recovery areas for Players and guests.

This position will be an integral role within the Club Office and the job holder must be able to balance the interests of The Club, The Championships, and other parties. It is 7 day a week role, managed within overall team resource.

 

What you will be doing

  • Strong leadership, development and management for Gym and Dressing Room colleagues to ensure the highest standards of service and attention to detail.
  • Identifying and delivering robust service and delivery touch points for Members and guests year-round – with proactive engagement with Members to understand and resolve day-to-day queries and escalate where appropriate.
  • Provide support to the Club Operations team to host appropriate Club events and matches.
  • Year-round end-to-end management of the Gym and recovery areas and identify suitable service providers.
  • Oversight and inspection of the cleaning regime, provide first response in emergency situations at peak times of usage, provide professional advice and guidance to assist user groups, accident, and injury prevention.
  • Maintain and update training equipment/furniture linking with equipment providers and suppliers to manage equipment maintenance and record keeping for all year-round and Championships (multiple sites).
  • Collaborate with key suppliers and partners.
  • Plan and deliver the strength and conditioning/personal training and induction process. Delivering a maximum 15 coaching hours a week (including PT, rehab, WJTI and group classes)
  • Analyse and develop further infrastructure for fitness software, group exercise and personal training.
  • Manage the Club’s Physiotherapy contract to ensure service quality, delivery and collaboration between the strength and conditioning and rehabilitation services.
  • Provide routine service reports and analysis to include usage, feedback and recommendations.
  • Comply with the current Safeguarding Policy and Guidelines and act as the Safeguarding Officer within agreed guidelines/standards.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders (Estate Development, Head of Professional Tennis and external suppliers) on future facility design, layout and procurement.
  • Facilitating transitions from all year-round operations to Championship mode and back again as well as project manage and design ongoing temporary Gym relocations.
  • Strong liaison with the Club Operations team including the Membership and Communications Manager, Club Events Manager and Club Tennis Manager, Indoor Tennis Centre colleagues.

What part your role will play during The Championships

  • During The Championships engage with key internal and external stakeholders to support the Players and guests utilising the ITC, Gym and recovery areas.
  • Recruit, onboard and manage a Gym and Recovery team of approximately 15-20 staff, design and develop Championships rota schedule within agreed guidelines, team communications, SOP’s and service delivery.
  • Proactive engagement and liaison with key internal and external stakeholders to be an internal point of contact to identify and escalate ongoing improvements and changes to the Gym and Recovery facilities including facility overlay and equipment inventory.
  • Implementing and ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols, risk management procedures and emergency procedures for all Gym facilities and users.
  • End to end management of the ice baths and recovery function.
  • Setup, closedown and management of training and recovery areas – to include daily maintenance equipment checks, equipment inventory, appropriate usage, cleanliness.
  • Engagement with coaching staff and players when required to provide advice on equipment and facility usage and any issues that may occur.
  • Manage daily recording and logging: issues, successes, facility setup, equipment usage, footfall number for players and coaches (hourly/daily), Health & Safety protocols.
  • Management of Dressing Room Supervisors.

About You

  • Degree or equivalent – Sports Science, Sports Coaching, Rehab or similar and UKSCA accredited (ASCC) or NSCA (CSCS).
  • Significant, relevant experience in a sports and gym environment at senior management level.
  • Outstanding guest satisfaction experience.
  • Understanding, and knowledge of Club and/or Sports environment – with experience of ice baths and recovery areas.
  • Professional and diplomatic with excellent interpersonal, networking and influencing skills; able to build and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders – internal and external.
  • Strong general management skills, verbal and written communication skills, team leadership, experience in budget management and the organisation and chairing of meetings.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to be accountable, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Highly numerate, with an excellent knowledge of budgeting/financial reporting and ability to analyse complex information and figures.
  • Strong Technology skills: Microsoft Office suite to intermediate level with strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience of CRM and booking systems.

  • The successful candidate will be joining a small, dynamic team – to support the 7 day/week operational requirements and the role will require regular evening and weekend working and additional hours and days during The Championships.

The role will require full DBS clearance and annual subscription to the Update Service and the results of DBS disclosures must be satisfactory to the organisation.
