Job description

We're looking for an Environmental Data and Compliance Assistant to join our Estate Development team on 1 year fixed term contract.

What you will be doing

  • Support in gathering information and reporting on landscape and environmental information.
  • Support in capturing and tracking our progress to ensure we meet our arboricultural, ecological and sustainability targets yearly and for 2030.
  • Prepare and input into reporting, via spreadsheets, charts, and other documentation methods.
  • Review and capture baseline data for all AELTC sites.
  • Support in identifying new management processes and software to improve data capture and compliance across the AELTC.
  • Assist in identifying gaps and the best ways to collect and manage information relating to environmental data.
  • Support in identifying all landscape types and the management restrictions across the estate.
  • Assist in the review of compliance items and report on when these are not being met.
  • Assistance on presentations and communication of key information.
  • Calculating areas and numbers of key environmental data, landscape types and species (flora and fauna) for the purpose of reporting, monitoring, and compliance.
  • Assist in the documentation and filing of all health and safety survey information, required works documentation for the entire AELTC arboricultural asset.
  • Aid in ensuring that all processes are in place and followed.
  • Contribute to ensuring all environmental compliance is followed and documented.
  • Assist in the engagement with adjacent landowners on key arboricultural and environmental issues.
  • Assist in reviewing and observing site activities in preparation for, during and after The Championships and Qualifying events.
  • Review accuracy of compliance information.
  • Assist in the review accuracy of the required processes associated with ecological and arboricultural matters year-round and for The Championships and Qualifying events.
  • Assist in ensuring that all relevant documentation is uploaded to Viewpoint and is accurate and up to date.
  • Contribute to other projects and work being undertaken by the Senior Landscape Design Manager and Estate Development Department as required.

What part your role will play in the organisation

Assisting with gathering, analysing, reporting data, and ensuring compliance on a wide range of environmental subjects relating to AELTC’s landholdings. This data capture, compliance and reporting role will ensure the AELTC’s annual objectives are being monitored and met, while guaranteeing we meet our 2030 targets year-round, and for The Championships and Qualifying events.

About You

  • Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Excel, Forms, Word and PowerPoint.
  • A Degree in Geography, Environmental Science or similar.
  • Experience in data compliance and analysis.
  • Exceptional data gathering and analysis abilities.
  • Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience of utilising tree management software, such as i-Tree Eco or TreeKeeper.
  • Familiarity with GIS and mapping.
  • Practical experience of using Coordinate Reference Systems (CRS).
  • Excellent planning, organisational and delivery skills.
  • Comfortable with periods of pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written, graphically and verbally.
  • Ability to present complex data and technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Good understanding of landscape and the environment, specifically trees and ecology.
  • Prior experience of working in and with landscape and environment specialists.
  • Understanding of Sustainability, Net Zero and the Climate Crisis.
  • Interest in contributing to shaping best practice in how trees, ecology and landscapes are managed.
  • Experience of working for an organisation that manages a large estate with a complex set of challenges and compliance requirements.
