Job description
We are looking for a Club Tennis Assistant who will support the Club Tennis Manager and wider Club team to deliver tennis events, programmes and related activities. This role will include regular weekday, weekend and evening work and, during term time, weekly delivery of the Club Junior Coaching on Sundays.
What you will be doing
- Delivering the Club Junior Coaching each week including end to end management of the administrative processes and procedures – including maintaining up to date records and registers, renewal administration, maintaining regular feedback and being the first point of contact for parents.
- Supporting delivery of wider AELTC tennis events for internal stakeholders including the Commercial, Community, Debentures Department and Wimbledon Foundation.
- Collaborating and scheduling casual coaches – ensuring feedback provided to the Club Tennis Manager, parents and players with progress updates.
- Proactively supporting the Club Tennis Manager and Club Office team – preparing gifts for visiting teams, administrative and on-court support.
- Organising and maintaining Club tennis areas and equipment and re-ordering equipment when required.
- Normal working hours are 20 hours/week, and the job holder will be expected to work the hours and working patterns required to fulfil the requirements of the role including delivery of the Club Junior Coaching on Sundays in term time and regular evening work. Initially, the role will be a 2-year, fixed term contract.
What part your role will play during The Championships
- Assisting the wider team during The Championships to ensure Members and their guests have an outstanding guest experience.
About you
- Up to date LTA coach accreditation, minimum level 3 qualification, including DBS disclosure which is satisfactory to the Company.
- Professional and diplomatic with excellent interpersonal, networking and influencing skills; able to build and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders – internal and external.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to be accountable, work independently and meet deadlines within agreed guidelines.
- Strong Technology skills: Microsoft Office suite to intermediate level with strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Understanding, and ability to support the delivery of, outstanding guest satisfaction experience.
- Understanding and knowledge of an elite Club and/or Sports environment.
- Proven planning and organisation skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Highly numerate with strong attention to data entry.

During The Championships, the Club team continue to support Members’ experience including their ticketing and dining requests.
- The Club has over 500 Members who have been selected for membership due to their tennis achievements. It has 18 tournament grass courts, twelve American clay courts, two acrylic courts, and six indoor courts. There are also 22 Aorangi Park grass courts, which serve as competitors' practice courts before and during The Championships. The grass courts can be used from May until September.
