Job description

We're looking for a Broadcast Operations Manager to join us on a 5 month fixed term contract starting in February/March.

What you will be doing

  • The Broadcast Operations Manager is responsible for the management of Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHBs) during The Championships run by Wimbledon Broadcast Services (WBS); being part of a team that hosts one of the largest annual sporting events and sets itself as a world leader in host broadcast production.
  • Point of contact for TV Broadcast Partners throughout the year including corresponding with them for bookings, on-site facilities, accreditation, health & safety, Championships’ information, and any general requests they may have.
  • Oversee all Audio broadcast requests from application through to on-site facilities.
  • Preparation of booking process for all rights holders including working with Technology to support internet and communication bookings.
  • Work with the wider Broadcast team communicating unilateral requirements to technical providers and all invested stakeholders.
  • Work with the Broadcast Coordinator to ensure all booked facilities in the Broadcast Centre are prepared for rights holder arrivals including but not limited to signage, water, cleaning, keys, accreditation/SADs, parking, media restaurant and security.
  • Financial management of services booked on-site, communicating with the Broadcast Manager to ensure rights holders are invoiced prior to the tournament.
  • Working with new Broadcast Partners introducing them to AELTC processes & support their bookings/requirements.

What part your role will play in The Championships

  • Bring to fruition the planning for RHB on-site operations through management of the wider Broadcast Operations & Bookings team.
  • Oversee all ENG crews on site, in the lead up and during The Championships, for RHBs, News, Documentary and internal filming crews.
  • Ensure all TV crews have the correct SADs for their filming requirements and are correctly briefed on AELTC protocols.
  • Support the Broadcast Coordinator with the management of the Broadcast Assistants – pre-Championships training and briefings, scheduling hours, assigning to crews or locations on site, ensure appropriate working conditions and strong team moral.
  • Central point of contact for all Broadcast accreditation queries supporting the Broadcast Accreditation Liaison with the correct deployment of all passes and access.
  • Answering general filming enquiries from rights and non-rights holders including potential filming locations & opportunities, liaising with the AELTC Communications team.
  • Liaise closely with Press, Player Interview team and Communications colleagues particularly in relation to media information distribution, the media website and media seating.
  • Support ad hoc unilateral broadcaster bookings ensuring all requirements are communicated to key stakeholders.

About you

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of key departments and stakeholders and build good working relationships built on trust and integrity, recognising the unique position of The Championships operating within a private members tennis club.
  • Experience of working in a broadcast bookings or liaison role at major sporting events, with extensive network of Broadcast contacts.
  • Strong knowledge of international broadcasters and their varied ways of working.
  • Actively collaborates with colleagues and promotes a climate in which information and new knowledge is openly shared.
  • Able to balance creative and analytical thinking to find most the suitable solutions and initiatives whilst assessing the inclusivity and environmental impact of broadcast solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal with strong IT skills.
  • A good understanding of health and safety considerations in a broadcast environment.
  • Patient and methodical, with a positive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond.
  • Uses own initiative to identify any areas where process improvements can be made to elevate the experience of all those working in the Broadcast Centre.

WBS services over 85 different rights holders around the world covering more than 200 territories and has a global audience of over 1.3 billion. WBS provides multi-camera coverage of all 18 Championships courts, with Centre & No.1 Court in UHD/HDR. 2,500 people work in the Broadcast Centre during The Championships.
